the big reveal!
wow!! i cant believe it has been a month and a half since i have blogged. i dont know if ive run out of material, or if i have just been that busy. i dont think its possible to run out of blog material, considering all of the men in my life, so its probably just that this christmas season has been a little hectic. my apologies.
as many of you know (and some of you may not), i have been talking on facebook about the big surprise travis has been teasing me with. he started around 2 months ago. he told me not to plan anything for the weekend of the 18-20 of december. he wouldnt give me any more information than that, and every time i asked he would say "nonya". i wanted to slap him. as time went on, he just got MORE OBNOXIOUS! finally, the big day (friday) arrived. he told me the night before that i would need to be ready to leave the house around 9:30am. i couldnt sleep that night...literally. i felt like a kid on christmas eve. i woke up around 4:30, and never did get back to sleep. anyway, at 9:30, he told me to go get in the car. he was not dressed and was feeding the boys breakfast, so it was pretty obvious that he would not be going with me. i asked where i was supposed to go, and he said to just get in the car. i went to the garage, and there was a series of numbered envelopes. the first one gave me all of the "rules" for the day. it also gace me a schedule for opening the envelopes. only travis would give me an "envelope schedule". the schedule said that i could open envelope number 2 right away. i found a starbucks gift card and a people magazine, and instructions to drive to starbucks, get a coffee, and relax for a while. nice!! while i was there, i was supposed to open the next envelope. this one had some money in it, and instructions to go buy a dress and shoes for an unknown event that would occur on saturday night. so, off i went. at 11:35, i opened the next envelope. there was a gift card to red bowl, and a letter saying that my best friend would be meeting me for lunch!! yay!! while eating, i opened the next envelope. it contained a victorias secret gift card. you dont really need to know any more than that. ;) after all that, i opened the next envelope. it sent me to the aveda salon for a pedicure and a haircut, both of which were so wonderful! the last envelope said to come home, where i would fnd a meal prepared especially for me. when i got home, travis had bathed the boys and gotten them ready for bed, and then cooked supper. we ate on our fine china (a first!!), and enjoyed a quiet meal and a good bottle of wine.
now, you're probably thinking this is the sweetest surprise ever right?? probably feeling a little jealous?? well, guess what? it aint over yet!!
the next morning, we got up and drove to rock hill. (travis had packed all of my clothes the day before while i was out). we dropped carson and eli at his parents, and then set off to destinations unknown (to me). we pulled into a plain parking garage in dowtown charlotte...i had NO IDEA what in the world he was up to. inside the parking garage were some offices and retail shops. he led me into a door, let the receptionist know who i was, and then he LEFT! i still had NO idea where i was or what i was doing there! i explained this to the receptionist, and she told me that i was there for a facial. she gave me a WONDERFUL facial, and then let me know that travis was in the waiting room. i was all ready to change my clothes and leave, but oh no! turns out, he had scheduled us for a couples massage!! i couldnt believe it! we had a 70 minute massage, and then it was time to go. we got back in the car, and made our way through charlotte. he pulled up in front of a building. i glanced out of the window, and this is what i saw:

yep...the ritz.
we pulled under the canopy, where the valet greeted us by name. we had a gorgeous room, with a beautiful view. once i finished screaming from excitement, travis let me know i had 1 1/2 hours to get ready. i had found a dress and shoes the day before, so i was all set. we left the hotel, and went to dinner at ruth's chris. we had some yummy steaks for supper, and then went back to the hotel. the next day (sunday) we had room service for breakfast (!!!!!) and then drove to rock hill to spend some time with the twins. travis knew i wouldnt be able to go without seeing them! after leaving there, we went to a movie, and then back to the hotel to get ready for the last big surprise....
the sunday night football game!!
panthers vs. vikings
we walked from the hotel to the stadium and watched the game. travis had gotten great tickets, and we had an awesome time. after that, it was back to the hotel to crash.
ths morning, we woke up early, and had room service again, and then it was back to the real world.
i had such an amazing weekend with my wonderful husband! we have such a wonderful life together, but every once in a while, its nice to do something a little (or a lot!!) different. i was definitely glad to pick up my boys though!! i missed them like crazy. i dont think they missed me though...they were too busy being spoiled.
scroll down...there is a post under this one that has some pictures from our weekend. i didnt take nearly as many as i would have liked, i guess i was too busy being surprised!!
by the way...did i mention that saturday was travis' birthday? thats right-he spent his birthday doing things for me! how did i get so lucky?
